Niniola Apata known simply by her stage name Niniola, may have just one album to her credit, but that has not diminished her status as one of the leading female singers in the country.
With her unique voice and brand of ‘Afro-House’ music, which is fast gaining acceptance, Niniola can aptly be called a diva.
The 31-year-old Drumroll Records signee, who has shown no signs of slowing down since bursting onto the Nigerian music scene about three years ago, in a recent interview with VANGUARD, disclosed that music is her first love and she cannot quit it for anything or anyone.
The ‘Maradona’ singer, while acknowledging that her love for music has taken all her time, said she would rather stick to music than be in a relationship that attempts to draw her away from it.
“That’s not possible! Not for anything/anybody will I quit music”, Niniola said in response to the question if she can quit music for a relationship.
“I won’t be in such an unsupportive (sic) relationship in the first place”, she adds.
When asked if she feels threatened by the likes of Tiwa Savage, Omawumi, Yemi Alade, Seyi Shay and the likes, Niniola responded in the negative, saying she sees them as her ‘seniors’ in the industry and admires them instead.
“Oh no, they are my seniors o! I met them in the industry, they paved the way for females like me, and I respect their craft. I can only admire them but will never ever feel threatened by sisters; there is enough space for everyone”, she said.
