Five people have been killed in renewed attacks on three local government areas of Benue State.
The attacks came on the heels of a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and leaders and elders from Benue State on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to reports, the latest killings took place in Logo, Guma and Okpokwu LGAs yesterday.
Confirming the unfortunate development when he received delegations of some South/Middle Belt forum at Government House, Makurdi, on Wednesday, Governor Samuel Ortom said that four people were killed in Guma and Logo after gunmen launched another attacks on the rural communities.
“Two women had been reportedly killed in Guma and two persons in Logo”, Ortom said.
The spokesman for the Benue State Police Command, ASP. Moses Joel Yamu, said the bodies of two women were recovered at the roadside in Guma while one person was killed in Okpokwu.
Yamu, however, said at press time that he was yet to get details of the attack on Logo.
