The Federal Government has finally signed documents signifying the formal hand over of ownership of the Presidential Lodge, Marina, to Lagos State Government.
It would be recalled that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had made a formal request to President Muhammadu Buhari to have the Presidential Lodge also known as State House, released to Lagos as part of his administration’s plans to transform the Marina-Onikan axis into a world-class arts and tourism hub.
The president had in 2016, granted approval to the governor’s request but it wasn’t until today, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 that the formal signing of documents to cede ownership of the pre-colonial edifice to the Lagos Government took place.
While Gov. Ambode signed the document on behalf of Lagos, his predecessor in office and present Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), signed on behalf of the Federal Government.
The signing event took place inside the minister’s office in Abuja.
